A PC Celebration of Women

A PC Celebration of Women

Today we honor this month’s celebration of women! Here at Parker Clay, our company’s foundation was built upon empowering women globally and locally. Of the over 200 employees we have, 80% of them are women. In honor of women’s history month, let’s have some fun and take a look at 5 of history’s influential female entrepreneurs and which PC bags they would have worn.

Madam CJ Walker

Meet Madam CJ Walker, African American entrepreneur, and social activist. Walker was born into slavery but did not let that stop her. She completely transformed life for African American women with her invention of hair products and became one of the first female self-made millionaires. We have given her the merkato shopper so that she can fit all of her hair products in it when she’s on the go.

Coco Chanel

Talk about one of the most influential fashion icons of all time! Gabriel Bonheur Chanel, aka Coco Chanel, was born on August 19th, 1883 in France. Her innovations were unlike anything seen before. She was sick and tired of how uncomfortable female fashion was such as tight corsets, just to make someone’s body look thinner. Coco was born into poverty and grew up in an orphanage but she refused to let that define her and created her multi-million-dollar company. Chanel is the founder of some of the most classic closet pieces of all time like the little black dress. Coco would have loved the hana clutch because it is classy and timeless… and it looks pretty good on her.

Estée Lauder

Many of us know Estée Lauder as a high-quality makeup brand and we don’t think twice about Estée Lauder herself. Esteé was a successful American businesswoman who built her empire of makeup from the ground up. In honor of the red lipsticks she made, here she is carrying our small merkato zip tote in red.

Iris Rideau

Vintner Iris Rideau is the first Black female to establish a winery in the United States and it is right in our backyard! Rideau vineyard is based out of Santa Barbara County and has been established since 1997. Rideau has made history and some incredible tasting wine. The napa handbag looks amazing on her and keeps her hand free allowing her to hold a glass of wine!

Oprah Winfrey

Last but certainly not least, our friendly neighbor Mrs. Oprah Winfrey. Oprah was born into poverty and was a victim of sexual assault from a young age. Despite her past, Oprah was able to transform her pain into empathy for others with similar hardships and used this to become a successful talk show host. She is a philanthropist, social activist, and role model to many Black women in America. We thought the Indio Sling in desert suede matched her unique personality and looks great on her!
