We're excited to bring some good news to the journal today, straight from our factory in Ethiopia.
While COVID-19 has posed many new challenges for our production (learn more about our response here), our leadership team in Ethiopia has continually looked for ways to provide support and give back to our community that has given us so much.
After recognizing that protective face shields were a huge need for healthcare workers in Addis Ababa, our team set to making sample shields with leftover leather that we had available.
We were able to develop a face shield approved by medical professionals, and produced 2,000 of them to donate to the Ministry of Health, valued at $15,000 USD, or 500,000 Ethiopian Birr.
On April 24th, a ceremony was held with several Ethiopian companies who have donated their resources, and Parker Clay was recognized by the Ethiopian Ministry of Trade & Industry and the Ethiopian Ministry of Health for meeting such a crucial need during this time.
We are incredibly proud of our team in Ethiopia; it is during these times that we truly remember how much better we are together.
“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” -African Proverb
